Biggie may be up in the Heavens, but during Hov’s concert at Carnegie Hall a few weeks back, he took to the balcony and paid homage to the Brooklyn Don with “Juicy”. This is all good.

Jay-Z Performs At Carnegie Hall With Nas And Alicia Keys (Video)

Jay-Z made history in New York City on Monday night, performing the first of two sold-out shows at Carnegie Hall. Backed by ?uestlove and the Illadelphonics, Jay kept the event true to his city as special guests Alicia Keys and Nas joined him on stage for “N.Y. State of Mind” and “If I Ruled The World (Imagine That).” Throughout the evening tribute segments to Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel, Gil-Scott Heron, and the NY Giants were played and displayed on the main stage’s backdrop. The night was also a first as Jay-Z performed his first-born dedication, “Glory” was done live.

The back-to-back shows are in support of Jay-Z’s Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation and the United Way. Which benefits low-income New York City-area students in a position to attend college.

Jay-Z to Perform Benefit Concerts at Carnegie Hall

Earlier this afternoon, Jay-Z held a press conference to announce two benefit concerts at the historic Carnegie Hall on February 6th and 7th. The shows will help raise money for college scholarships and United Way program that helps prevent dropout rates in New York City.

“It’s every artists dream to play a venue as legendary as Carnegie Hall. The fact that I can use the arts and my talent to benefit the education of the next generation of artists, entrepreneurs, and great thinkers makes for a legendary night. I’m proud to be a part of the continuing work of United Way of New York City and expanding the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation.” (via RR)

Tickets will be sold privately to philanthropists and wealthy fans on December 12 and limited public tickets ranging from 0 to 00 will be sold on January 30 at 11 am.
