[Video] Young Money Signs Lil Wayne’s Daughter
In an interview with Rap-Up, Mack Maine announced that they signed Lil Wayne’s 14 year old daughter Reginae Carter to the Young Money team. She was previously with the girl group OMG Girlz, with their successful pop track “Gucci This (Gucci That)” last year. She also appeared on Weezy’s The Carter. Turns out the NYC landmark’s hue was actually due to the NY Giants’ playoff game on Sunday. Oh well, we can pretend. In fact, there’s gotta be all kinds of ways we could imagine Jay-Z pulling some strings to publicly celebrate this monumental event with the rest of the world. Luda is for the kids. And today, the rapper and his 10 year-old daughter Karma, have launched Karmas World. The URL will focus on child education featuring music, games and more. Luda says:
“We wanted the site to be educational, fun and full of music that all kids will enjoy, but we also wanted it to teach kids more than just academics. The site touches on subjects like, the rewards of hard work and importance of learning manners as well as the idea that doing good deeds for others will bring good into your life – which is the meaning of the word Karma. The music and lyrics, games and stories on the site are all original and were created by me, my daughter and my creative team.”
Nas Opens Up To Tyler, The Creator About Being Lonely and His Daughter
After unveiling their new Nas Cover earlier today, XXL blessed us with a few exclusive excerpts from their upcoming interview, where Tyler, The Creator asks Nas some honest questions. This might not be what the music heads were looking for but with Nas being such an elusive interview subject, I think we’re in for some big surprises.
The following exchange comes after Tyler gives Nas props for his song “Me and You,” which was featured Street’s Disciple and dedicated to his daughter, Destiny.
Tyler: I love that beat . That song’s legit.
Nas: Aw, thanks, man. It’s crazy, because when she was young, she was a baby, I thought, Aw, man, I’m gonna quit this rap shit before she becomes old enough to even know what I’m doing, what I did for a living. I never thought that I’d be still doing it while she’s a teen, growing up. And I’m still in the game. It kind of fucks me up.
What do you do, like, in your spare time? Do you play Xbox or anything?
No, I’ve actually spent a lot of time being lonely as fuck, you know? It’s, like…you just do nothing.

Now that Jay and Kanye’s “Otis“, has been released, Billboard reached out to Otis Redding’s daughter, Karla Redding-Andrews discussed how the sample was cleared and her views of the song.
When did you first hear about “Otis”?
We first heard about the song in early July, end of June. Concord Music Group has the masters and Bill Belmont and Michele Smith from Concord brought it to us. There was a back and forth about whether the name of the song would be “Otis” or “Otis Redding.” And we just wanted to make sure lyrics and references in the song worked with the legacy of my father. To have two current, legendary artists use the legendary music of Otis Redding-we were quite honored.Late June to now — that’s a pretty quick turnaround, isn’t it?
It was pretty fast and all came together really quick. With these talented musicians they have so many songs. It’s not until it comes time to pull together a project and they know what songs are going to be on the album that they look to get all the clearances before the song leaks. They brought it to us first and we really appreciate that respect.Did you ever meet with Jay-Z or West during the process?
No, we never met with them. It all went through the record companies. That’s the nature of the business and it’s probably better that way. [If we met with them], we would probably bring more personal considerations into it. But this is a wonderful opportunity. We really like the song and the swagger elements that are in the song. It speaks to the star that Otis was in his day.
