Azealila Banks took the”212″ to Paris this past Wednesday to celebrate designer, Karl Lagerfeld’s new clothing line, Karl. Oddly enough, they’re must’ve not been a dress code.
Taking in the sights of Paris and prepping an upcoming UK tour weren’t the only things Azealia Banks had in store yesterday. The Harlem upstart got quite an invitation as she was asked to perform at the home of Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld. Banks, whose been tweeting about her time in France for Paris Couture week, entertained attendees with a live version of her viral hit “212″.
A picture of Karl Lagerfeld’s special gift to Azealia after the jump….
The gift Azealia got? A custom knitted sweater, with Karl Lagerfeld’s silhouette similar to the Mickey Mouse knitted piece in her “212″ video.
Swizz Beats On His Reebok Creative Director Role: “This Puts Me Up There With The Marc Jacobs and Karl Lagerfelds”
“I want y’all to understand the movement and opportunity that we all have. Reebok is definitely back. I am happy to be the creative director globally that puts me up there with the Marc Jacobs and Karl Lagerfelds. To have that position coming from the South Bronx…I tell everyone that the sky is not the limit, it’s just the view.“
Miss Info: Last night, Reebok Classics threw a huge party in midtown Manhattan to celebrate their partnership with Swizz Beats and the launch of their “Reethym of Life” campaign. Yours truly and Mikey were there early because I had the pleasure of chatting with the celebrity guests for Reebok’s own interview series (which will be posted on Reebok’s website soon). Much love to Justin and Matty from Reebok, Nicole/M&CSaatchi, Casey/KidsWithCandy, and the Influencers documentary crew). I love how this Reebok team is pulling in talented people and taking risks ; )
Back to the party: the space was packed to the rafters with Swizz’s friends and family: wife Alicia Keys, mentor Clive Davis, uncle Darrin Dean, Pharrell and his lovely lady, Diddy (which Cassie in the cut), the talented Verbal and his wife Yoon (more on Verbal’s Reebok venture soon!), Teyana Taylor, Lloyd Banks, Maino, Nore, Busta Rhymes, Red Cafe, Selita Ebanks, director Chris Robinson, O’Neal McKnight, and more. There were also tons of music, media and fashion industry vips as well. Check out photos of the partygoers and their colorful ‘fits here.
Mikey caught video of Swizz’s speech to the crowd (above) and more performance footage….

Swizz brings Lloyd Banks out for “Start It Up” and more at Reebok’s “Reethym of Life” Party
The story behind the dancers from many different disciplines, all recruited for the “Reethym of Life” video.
The set designers create a “matrix of light and shadow” for the “Reethym of Life” commercial. That 3D “R” is pretty friggin’ cool. Verbal mentioned at the party that he and a partner named Pablo from Paris have also launched a 3D light display company. You’ll get a closer look when his Japan-based Reebok collaborations roll out. I’ll have more details in a separate post.

Behind The Scenes: Meek Mill feat. Rick Ross & Swizz Beatz “Reebok Back”
For their next issue of VMAN Magazine, Karl Lagerfeld shot Kanye West to cover the new edition that’ll include a real U.S. bill. Kanye’s friend and creative director Virgil Abloh tweeted earlier “Our Vman cover. Everything we put out breaks some sort of rule. Karl Lagerfeld and “Some kids from Chicago”.
For their next issue of VMAN Magazine, Karl Langfield shot Kanye West to cover the new edition that’ll include a real U.S. bill. *no, seriously, there are some really fab abdominals here. I’m wondering if maybe these gals keep their organs in the fridge and only use them afterhours.
I’m kookoo for Kaiser Karl, always. I love photography and art. And I can fully appreciate how stunning and alien-like supermodels are. Also, I appreciate how Pirelli, a tire company, annually shells out beaucoup bucks to talented photographers for a calendar that i-bankers and desk-jockeys around the world will hang in their cubicles and fantasize over. It’s a grand tradition!
Now last year, controversial photographer Terry Richardson shot the calendar and it was more raunchy. This year, Karl Lagerfeld took over and created a less overtly sexual, more artsy fartsy Greek Gods and Goddesses theme. Also, there was about 5-pounds less bodyfat per model, no more animals, and far more delicately-featured male models involved. And less beads of body sweat. In fact, no sweat at all. (Which makes sense, because I don’t think Karl has perspired since the early 80s.)
Maybe some guys who think Keri Hilson is “too skinny” and share the same taste in women as Cam’ron will not find the calendar appealing, but even still, as pure photography, the images are simple and beautiful.
Watch the making of the Karl Lagerfeld x Pirelli 2011 Calendar…(NSFW, the female models are naked, even though some are built like tween boys….that’s maybe more NSFW, right?)
Also, the part of this video that turned me on the most?….
All after the jump…
Karl Lagerfeld enlists actress Julianne Moore, models Daria Werbowy, Erin Wasson, and other people with hilariously chiseled noses and pillowy lips….for the 2011 Pirelli Tire Calendar. (Spotted on the Cutblog)
“We had a very modern approach because nobody believes in these kind of gods anymore…but these girls are the goddesses of today. If you like it, or will not like it, that I do not know, but you may be surprised…“-Kaiser Karl
The part that turned me on? Not that dude in the gold codpiece. That’s for sure. No….I started panting when I saw…Lagerfeld’s personal photography studio within his absolutely insane library loft. WTF, man! Who lives like this! I would die happy, and hide my own corpse in shelf: Dewey Decimal 1.4 300. *deep sigh*
To contrast this year’s Karl Lagerfeld shoot with last year’s Terry Richardson shoot, check out the full photos of the 2010 Pirelli calendar here, or watch this making-of video…
lol, if Kanye had to choose which was better he’d be torn between the porn-sensibility of Richardson, and the untouchable Euro fashion royalty of Lagerfeld. But he’d go with Karl. Naked chicks are a dime a dozen. There is only one Kaiser ; )
