Monica and Brandy speak out for the first time since the tragic passing of Whitney Houston last Saturday afternoon. While both were in attendance later that evening (photo above) at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party, both were clearly stricken by the news and cancelled their performance at the event. On set of the video for their reunion single “It All Belongs To Me,” the two singers who both idolized and were mentored throughout their careers by Whitney open up to E! News’ Clinton Sparks. While Monica used the time to reflect on the fallen diva, Brandy was clearly distraught and understandbly had a hard time speaking on the subject.
Funeral arrangements have been set to take place in Whitney’s native of Newark, New Jersey. The invitation-only funeral will take place at New Baptist Church at noon this Saturday.

Chaka Khan appeared on CNN’s Piers Morgan on Monday night, and expressed dissapointment in Clive Davis going through with his pre-Grammy party the same evening Whitney had passed away.
“I thought that was complete insanity,” Chaka Khan told Morgan. “I don’t know what could motivate a person, to have a party, in a building, where the person, whose life he had influenced so enormously, and whose life had been affected by her…I don’t understand how that party went on.”
Another person to express shock and speak out was Janet Jackson. The pop icon appeared on Anderson Cooper’s daytime talk show where she spoke on the tragic news, Whitney’s talent, and advice and words she has for Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina.
“It’s a very, very tough time. Even though it’s still a loss. I lost my brother, she lost her mother. There’s still a difference, even though there’s a still a loss to a family. I don’t know what that’s like being so young. It was hard for me. It was very, very difficult for me. I didn’t want to accept it, it’s very difficult. You have to come to terms at some point. You have to actually give it up to God and it sounds so mean, but you have to move on. You can’t hold onto that because it can be very devastating. Sometimes therapy is the best thing.”

Said the Abbot via Facebook:
I dedicate the song “Gone” to my friend Sally Menke and its my gift to her memory. I feel music is the best gift I can give and I’m giving it away to Wu-Disciples for free in her name. Who ever like the song can send a blessing of positive energy to Sally’s family and her legacy. Peace.
